Samsung has officially moved into the future with the announcement of their first-ever Samsung Trifold. The Samsung Trifold is not just a phone; it is an innovative product that combines all the benefits of a phone and tablet into one device.
This is the culmination of years of development on Samsung’s Fold series of devices; however, they have now taken that technology to another level with the introduction of the Samsung Trifold. It is the only foldable phone from Samsung that will allow you to use your entire phone as a tablet.
Now that Samsung has launched the Samsung Trifold, are you ready for this device or will you use it for something else other than daily use? It remains to be seen how this device will perform in everyday use, so let us take an extensive look at the design, specifications, performance, and everyday usability of it.
Design & Build
Looks:
The Trifold from Samsung provides an updated look with a modern design but is distinctly Samsung at the same time. The Trifold has an all-new textured finish on the back that adds a premium touch to the look of the Trifold, which along with the texture, aids in the grip of the device.
The design is similar to the Z Fold 7, however the linear texture on the back helps the Trifold stand out as a fourth-generation device. The texture of this Trifold not only provides an aesthetically pleasing effect to the Trifold, it gives the user a feeling of security when they are handling the Trifold.
Thickness:
Just as with the other trifold devices, the Trifold folds up and does not have the same thin profile that would be expected.
- With the Trifold being folded, it has a thickness of 12.9mm which makes it seem quite thick.
- When unfolded, the Trifold gives a large viewing screen while maintaining a thickness of only 3.5mm which is great for the size of the screen.
While it is thicker when folded than it is when fully deployed, once deployed, the Trifold can easily be compared to a 10″ tablet. With a great combination of smartphone portability and tablet productivity.
Material Used & Weight:
Samsung did not compromise on materials. The Trifold uses:
1. Durable titanium for its hinge.
2. Aluminium for its frame.
3. Ceramic, glass, and polymer as a composite that reinforced its structure.
The folding mechanism is inspired by several features within the Z FOLD 7 devices, including Samsung’s folding mechanisms and their protective layers.
The weight of the Trifold is 319 grams, making it heavier than most smartphones but weight-wise this is acceptable for the size and power a device of this type has to offer.
Water & Dust Resistance:
Samsung Trifold has an IP48 rating therefore it will offer:
1. Decent protection from water
2. Fair amount of dust resistance, but not as much as one would want if working in a heavily dusty location.
When using this device outdoors or around a sandy area or dusty area will require a more cautious approach by its users.
Display
This information is focused on the display and its display configuration of the Samsung Trifold.
Cover Display
- a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen
- Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection
- fairly thick bezel
- and a punch-hole camera for taking self-portraits.
Compared to previous generation foldable devices, the cover display is now actually functional and provides ease of use for standard smartphone operations.
Main Display
It extends to 10-inches when fully opened, providing an experience like that of using a Tablet.
- The 10-inch AMOLED display features an ultra-smooth refresh rate of 120Hz
- Rich colours, high brightness, and wide viewing angles.
- Content creation, consumption, gaming, multitasking and work are all supported well on the Main Display.
The crease in the centre of the screen remains visible; however, it is considerably less obvious than before, making for a more immersive and visual experience.
Charging & Battery
The Trifold has a remarkable 5600mAh battery, which is quite amazing given the challenging design of the device. The enhanced battery capacity is vital as the two displays, along with the massive unfolded 10″ display, all need to have an adequate power source.
The Trifold has 45W wired charging capabilities. While it could be argued that, in 2025, users of cutting-edge smartphones should expect 60W to 100W speeds, in light of the Trifold’s complicated design and structure, a charging speed of 45W is satisfactory, if not spectacular.
Camera Quality

Samsung is utilising a large part of the camera system that is found on the Z Fold 7, which has a proven and high-quality camera system.
Back Cameras
- 200MP Primary Camera
- 12MP Ultra Wide Camera
- 10MP Telephoto Camera
With the strong detail and dynamic range provided by the primary sensor, as well as the versatility provided by the Ultra Wide and Telephoto Sensors, the Trifold offers one of the best camera systems available on a foldable device.
Front Cameras
- A 10MP camera is located on the cover display to take self-portraits and facilitate video calling. This camera is ideal for both purposes.
When comparing the camera performance between this phone and the Z Fold 7, there is really not much of an improvement.
Performance & Specifications
The Samsung Trifold smartphone uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Processor for Galaxy as its heart and brain. This is a specialized processor built by Qualcomm specifically to be used in Samsung smartphones.
Specifications at a Glance
- Processor – Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Processor for Galaxy
- RAM – 16GB LPDDR5X
- Storage – 512GB UFS 4.1
With this combination of components, the Trifold will allow for butter-like smooth multitasking, hyper-fast processing, and premium-class gaming performance across three display segments.
User Interface & Software Experience
With the Trifold structure of the Samsung Trifold phone, the Samsung user interface has been perfectly optimized with multi-window capabilities and fluid and intuitive app continuity due to adaptive user interface transitions.
All apps will automatically adapt to folding positions while productivity applications take advantage of the larger size screen when unfolded.
