India in July is incredible. The monsoon brings a rejuvenation to the landscapes, it changes everything into visibly green landscapes, and while some travelers are apprehensive when it comes to the rainy season, smart travelers know that July is one of the best times to see India’s stunning landscapes, with fewer tourists, and with several seasonal festivals during the month of July. We will share the Best Places to Visit in India for the Month of July, whether it is cool misty hills, unique cultural experiences, or backwater serenity.

Why Travel in India in July?

Before we dive into my list of the Best Places to Visit in India for the Month of July, here are a few reasons why traveling in India in July is a good idea-

  • 🌧️ Refreshing Monsoon Weather- After months of intense heat, the rain brings some well-needed relief from the oppressive summer heat, and creates some dramatically lush landscapes unique to this time of year!
  • 🎉 Festivals and Cultural Events- July has several unique events including the Hemis Festival in Ladakh, and Teej in Rajasthan just to name two.
  • 🧳 Very Low Seasonal Pricing- Off season airfare and lodging options are also significantly less in many parts of the country.
  • 🌄 Nature at Its Best- Waterfalls, valleys, and forests come alive during monsoon season, creating great opportunities for new and exciting photography.

Tips for Traveling in India in July

  • Pack light rain gear: You need umbrellas, waterproof jackets, and quick-dry clothes.
  • Book ahead of time: The deals for monsoon travel are excellent but accommodation can be limited in popular places.
  • Be flexible: Rain can ruin your travel plans, especially in remote areas. Have alternative travel options to consider.
  • Pick the right places to visit: Some places like the Himalayas may be closed due to road closures — check weather updates before traveling.
